Join Me On LibraryThing!

My mom discovered this lovely site and, as she knows my obsession with cataloguing my books, she thought she'd invite me on it. So now my new to-do is adding on all my books to the website. I invite all my friends and family to check out my site:

http://www.librarything.com/catalog/10lees

and to add in your own library - we could be friends on here!! It beats the library on facebook, that's for sure!!

ROUS-es Discovered!

For those of you not into The Princess Bride, ROUS stands for Rodents of Unusual Size. Now they have discover them in some Indonesian jungle...just as long as they don't come live in my house.

And quite frankly, they don't look that much bigger than, say, a common New York rat.

I Am Legend

On Saturday my husband convinced me to go see I Am Legend. I, in turn, convinced him to enter the theater in spite of the large crowds. We had to wait an hour and a half for the next movie (that wasn't sold out) to start.

Most of you know that while I am not unfamiliar with horror/suspense movies, I don't watch them anymore because of the nightmares I get. However, I figured I Am Legend was going to be more like Children of Men, which I loved, and I was mostly right. There are definetly some scary moments, but while the creatures are not really human, they do appear to have some human tendancies.

Overall I thought it was a good, solid movie. Enjoyable, engrossing, although it doesn't quite answer it's own questions about what humanity may be risking by playing God medically, it does make you think. Or perhaps I was the only one that thought of that question... if you saw it what did you think?

My Week

I had all this wonderful stuff to write about, but I took Access Level 2 class today and it severly warped my brain. I'm serious, there is nothing worse than sitting in a class for 8 hours that is going too slow for you.

I get my permenant crown put in on Saturday - wish me luck!

The Perfect Gift

I know you are all trying to find me the perfect gift for Christmas, and if you have a large amount of funds at your discretion I will just suggest this:

The Magna Carta! Signed after a rebellion led by Simon de Montfort against King John. This example is signed by King Edward I (who is same King Edward I (Longshanks) as seen in Braveheart, in case you cared).

Come on, it's only 20-30 million and I'd really love it.

Fine, I'd really really REALLY love it.

The Secret Show

Having step-kids has it's benefits - and occasionally it shows up in hilarious british cartoons. The Secret Show is this wonderful show with Victor Volt and Anita Knight attempting to save the world working at UZZ, the evil organization is called THEM (properly enough).

It's on Nicktoons network, if you get it you should tune in (you know if you aren't being a contributing member to society in other ways). It starts out as the 'fluffy, fluffy bunny' show - but don't be alarmed, it is The Secret Show.

The Worst Christmas Song Ever

There is something special about the Christmas season, the weather, the shopping, the songs - I love it all or should I say most of it...

There is one thing I hate more than anything, it may be the song I hate most in the world (over Toxic by Britney Spears, or that song where Fergie spells words)... and it is sung by a decent singer - Paul McCartney. Have you guessed the song yet? That's right it's 'Wonderful Christmastime', this song alone makes me doubt that Paul McCartney ever wrote any of the Beatles hits.

To amuse myself in stores where I am subjected to this song I make up lyrics. They are normally much better than the lyrics Paul sings, but let's be honest - that's not hard. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this song the lyrics are:
simply having a wonderful Christmastime
or
i am too lazy to write words to my song
or
i am so famous i don't have make sense anymore
or
i used to write songs but now i just sing lame crap
or you can make up your own!
