Join Me On LibraryThing!

My mom discovered this lovely site and, as she knows my obsession with cataloguing my books, she thought she'd invite me on it. So now my new to-do is adding on all my books to the website. I invite all my friends and family to check out my site:

http://www.librarything.com/catalog/10lees

and to add in your own library - we could be friends on here!! It beats the library on facebook, that's for sure!!

Unless you gave up some books I don't think its possible that those are all of them. But heres the questions it catalogs the books right. But does it tell me where to find the book in my house? or does it let me borrow others books so that I don't have to buy them myself? Does it arrange the books neatly on my shelfs. Because these are the kind of library things that my house needs. When you find one of those I'll be all over it.

One thing that could help you speed up entry is Amazon's webcam barcode scanner. It imports into your media library there, but I'm guessing you can export/import somehow (and even if not, putting up the two screens and copying over ISBN may be faster than typing/verifying everything).

I showed this to Greg and a) he now wants to put all of his books on here and b) he thought it was interesting that your book collection is a pretty good mix of "my" books and "his" books.

Also, Greg received the complete Oxford English Dictionary for Christmas from the partner he works for. Twenty. 3 inch. Volumes. ( Here is a picture from the web: http://www.co2-handel.de/article160_6793.html ) Sheesh. Right now they are stacked on the floor. I thought you might appreciate it. :)

Oh my gosh - that is an awesome gift!! I have one really big dictionary that is about 5-6 inches thick, but it is from 1970.

I am still debating buying a membership, basically to upload any more than 200 books you have to pay. However, it's only 10 bucks a year or 25 for a lifetime.

Just send me a friend request if you do decide to join - I'd love to see your book collection!
