Bikram Yoga

I have recently taken up Bikram (or hot) yoga at an excellent facility in Tacoma. It is very interesting because it's so hard to do and yet, aftewards, you want to go again. In the first five minutes I was like 'oh no, I'm not going to survive', but towards the end (when I wasn't laying down because I was breathing so hard) I was feeling pretty good. I feel really great now, about two hours later.

My next class isn't until next Wednesday, but I need to go more often to 'get used to it' otherwise, as my instructor says, everytime will feel like the first. Can anybody tell me whether this is true?

Anytime you try to train your muscles to do something diff and you don't do it on a consistent basis like once a week or once every two weeks - you will get sore all over again. It wouldn't hurt to do some of the easier exercises a few times a week - the one's you can remember anyway. :)
This is why I don't horsebackride - it's way too painful - but now that I'm on supplements - it may be alittle better - but who has the time or energy for that??? :)

i agree... i used to do yoga once a week, and it was enough for me b/c i worked out with solid stretching time at least 2 other times during the week. if i used some of the yoga sequences (esp sun salutations - LOVE those things!) during your daily routine, you'll be fine. :o)

i have friends who only go once a week, and have been for a very long time. i also have friends (and myself) who try to go at least twice a week. it is just what your body gets used to, and how much your pocketbook can handle... ;o)

I would like to learn sun salutations, but that isn't one of the 26 Bikram positions. Perhaps I should try another Yoga class in addition? I am still debating - I will see how going every week feels. I definetly feel much better for severals days after I go.
