Playoff Game!

Unbeknownst to me, Scott put down money on Season Tickets for the Seahawks a few months ago. (You put down money to enter the waiting list.) They have a lottery for those who are on the list - you can get chosen to buy playoff tickets, and we WERE! Scott purchased two tickets for the Seahawks vs. Redskins game that happened yesterday.

We had tons of fun! I took a picture of the field from our seat before the game started - and of course a not-so-great picture of us (before the seats behind us were filled. It was great to cause TWO more false starts - for those of you unfamiliar with the stadium, it has the most false starts of all the NFL stadiums, the Metrodome being a distance second. Also one of the false starts was hilarious because the ball was snapped and the quarterback wasn't even looking!

I also learned a couple of things: a field goal is not a field goal when it is an 'extra point' - who knew? AND if you can make the opposing team punt right before the half you get an extra kickoff.

So join Seahawks fever, we're up against Green Bay next (and we're going to receive the ball and score, as Hasselbeck says) - and you know you don't want Green Bay to win! Heck, even my Jones soda loves the Seahawks (that's Josh Brown, our kicker, on the label). Join the fever and root for the home team (since your teams didn't make it in, Vikings and Bears fans)!

(PS - my new camera phone - great purchase!)

I actually knew about the difference between a field goal and extra point. But the extra kickoff thing, I'm a little confused.

I'll be rooting for the Seahawks next week, because rooting for the Packers is not acceptable (at least this coming week).

Looks like it was some decent seats. I'm a little jealous.

bleaus - surprisingly we were up fairly high, probably only about 10-20 rows from the very top. However, the stadium doesn't have a 'horrible' seat - it's very decent.

Apparently the 'extra kickoff' thing is an ancient football rule that nobody tries for anymore. However, it still applies...I don't really understand it either...

Can I ask a dumb question? Is there a reason that the stadium has so many false starts (like bad acoustics?) or is it just a bad habit?

Glad you had a great time!

The stadium is new, so it doesn't have 'bad' acoustics. It was created to funnel fan noise down to the field, and the fans love it so we scream at the top of our lungs when the opposing team offense is trying to plan a play and concentrate. We actually have a sign that comes up that says 'shhhh Seahawk offense working' when our offense is on the field - and we pretty much shush all those around us too. That is why, when we play at home, you will see our defense raise their hands up as in 'raise the noise level'.

Were you watching the game since it was your 'home' team?

Those are great pics! :) I'm glad you had a great time. And you guys got there EARLY!
Off to hopefully beating Green Bay ...
Did you hear the joke on Spirit 105.3 - a Dad was explaining to his kid - Full Back, Quarter Back, and the kid said to the father - yeah - but who gets to be the Hassel Back? Isn't that just TOO CUTE?! :)
Love, Mom

We don't have a TV so I missed the game. I was in Boston when the Patriots won their 16th game this season -- the city went wild!

You stadium sounds great, what a fun place to spend the day!
