Such an original title, I know all of you must wonder how I come up with these... but I think it's just a gift.
Anyway, my new boyfriend got to come and 'meet the parents' this weekend. I am not sure how that went. I think it might've been too early to have him meet the parents. He seemed pretty nervous, not that I wasn't, through the whole thing but lightened up towards the end. The turkey was good, the presents were plentiful, the pie was yummy... it was all great.
The next day my mom and I went shopping in downtown, it's not as bad as it sounds. It was actually quite fun and we found some great gifts for people. Not any gifts I can mention on here though...
On Saturday I moved into a new apartment and spent my first night alone in a long time! I can't believe how long it's been since I've been on my own. I have mostly unpacked by now and have realized Brandi made off with a lot of kitchen stuff... not that she 'stole' it... I just now understand what she meant when she said 'You left a lot of crap behind'... dude, I'm sorry!! You must have a lot of crap now...
Thanks for everybody that called to wish me happy birthday, sorry about not being by the phone all day & night. I promise I will call all of you back this week.
Today I saw a bumper sticker that made me laugh...
Vote Democrat: It's easier than working
and just to be fair I'll include Lo's hilarious bumper sticker earlier:
Vote Bush: Why switch horses mid-apocalyse?
I got it!!!
And I forgot to mention it has a wood burning fireplace! Woohoo!! Fire!!!
Yesterday I went to a great area and applied for a cute one bedroom apartment. It is 650 square feet and has a washer / dryer and a dishwasher.. and it only $599/month and I don't have to pay anything until January 1 but could move in now!! Oh, I'm so excited!! I just really hope I get it. The reason they might deny me is because of my employment, I'm 'just' a temp-to-hire right now. But that doesn't seem like it would make too much of a difference. It seems like a lot of people out there work that way instead of getting a permenant job. It's a fun way to meet people and do different things anyway.
I will update with details when I hear (tomorrow) whether I get it or not.... oooo I am hoping I do!!
PS If you know what town I am going to live in please do not put it in any comment ever - thanks!
So a couple weekends ago I went to a Joan Jett concert. Don't worry - I didn't know who she was either when I was asked to go.
Here are a few of her songs:
I Love Rock and Roll
Don't Give a Damn About My Bad Reputation
So anyhoo, we went and rocked out. It was a lot of fun. Most of her songs came out in the early 80s and she is pretty punk. She even sang a few of her new songs. Have to say they remind me of pretty standard punk music, I don't hold much hope for her new album.
It was great to see such a strong female singer on stage. She was ripped and not tan and singing her own lyrics. She was awesome. I really liked the experience and it was fun to be in the crowd, even though everybody was from the 80s...
Here is one link to her bio and here is another.
I know a lot of you want details, maybe next time...
Those of you that are might have realized that something is missing from my title...
I've been pulled over by cops a few times, as most of you will know. Once for tailgating the cop, once for having a flat tire and trying to make it to the gas station down the street while going 10mph with my flashers on, and once for having a headlight out (the cop also wanted to make sure I wasn't drunk). But most of those I don't count as getting 'pulled over' because it's never been for speeding... enter my experience last week.
I was driving back from.... somewhere.... at 2am in the morning and had driven for about an hour and was almost home, whe suddenly lights are flashing in my rear view mirror. Now I admit I was pretty tierd and probably shouldn't have been driving, so the cop comes up to the window and ask if I knew why he pulled me over... of course I have no idea because there was someone in front of me going faster than I was and I thought I was only going 64mph (speed limit = 60). He says 'you swerved twice into the other lane' (I remember once - but apologize and explain I am a little tierd). He adds 'you were going 68 mph', to which my response is 'REALLY??'... and then he asks 'Have you been drinking tonight', of course I say 'No, I don't drink' (which while true is probably something you shouldn't say to a cop that's just pulled you over, a simple no would suffice).
He still took my license, registration, and proof of insurance. But he didn't take them back to his car, he wrote down my registration information and ran the plates after I left. He knew where I lived.
So that's my fun experience, I was told to stay in my lane and watch my speed. Later I figure I probably really was going 68mph because driving off onto the same ramp a few days later I was going that fast. The cops here really won't pull you over for speeding unless it is 10+mph over, and obviously won't give you a ticket for it even if you are already pulled over.
My life has been moving along rapidly, sorry for the lack of a post on here. I've been busy commuting back and forth to work, going on fun dates and working (of course).
So the fight after the election has apparently commenced and it should be good fun. I wish that all groups could just get back to acting normal. I understand that election time is different, but there's no need to be calling names now. It is only four more years anyway, whoever won.
It is the Marine Corps 229th birthday today, if you figure the math you'd see that they are older than the US is. The US Marine Corps was founded in 1775, one year before we became a country. I wonder if we would have beat the British without their help... I don't think so. So to my brother Roland, Rick, Nick, and all other marines out there - thank you for serving our country.
