I've been pulled over by cops a few times, as most of you will know. Once for tailgating the cop, once for having a flat tire and trying to make it to the gas station down the street while going 10mph with my flashers on, and once for having a headlight out (the cop also wanted to make sure I wasn't drunk). But most of those I don't count as getting 'pulled over' because it's never been for speeding... enter my experience last week.
I was driving back from.... somewhere.... at 2am in the morning and had driven for about an hour and was almost home, whe suddenly lights are flashing in my rear view mirror. Now I admit I was pretty tierd and probably shouldn't have been driving, so the cop comes up to the window and ask if I knew why he pulled me over... of course I have no idea because there was someone in front of me going faster than I was and I thought I was only going 64mph (speed limit = 60). He says 'you swerved twice into the other lane' (I remember once - but apologize and explain I am a little tierd). He adds 'you were going 68 mph', to which my response is 'REALLY??'... and then he asks 'Have you been drinking tonight', of course I say 'No, I don't drink' (which while true is probably something you shouldn't say to a cop that's just pulled you over, a simple no would suffice).
He still took my license, registration, and proof of insurance. But he didn't take them back to his car, he wrote down my registration information and ran the plates after I left. He knew where I lived.
So that's my fun experience, I was told to stay in my lane and watch my speed. Later I figure I probably really was going 68mph because driving off onto the same ramp a few days later I was going that fast. The cops here really won't pull you over for speeding unless it is 10+mph over, and obviously won't give you a ticket for it even if you are already pulled over.
