Randomness Continues

I like playing in the sand
What's mine is ours
And it doesn't remind me of anything... (AudioSlave Doesn't Remind Me)

That's my new favorite song, because it doesn't remind me of anything - and everything - all at once.

You know you are having a bad day when the mere fact that your favorite makeup chain is opening a first store in your area is enough to make you squeal with glee. Normally I would be excited, but right now I am clining to the fact that Ulta is opening in my area with a single minded fervor that it is awesomeness incarnate. I would like to acknowledge all of the careful dedication and planning that went into this horrible day. Thank you sources too numerous to be named, you really made my day amazing, I don't think I've sobbed like a baby in a girl's bathroom stall like that since I was in high school and was doused in blue paint and banned from the Smurfs. Ok, so perhaps the last parts didn't happen...

Dreams

I had a wonderful dream this weekend, though also a slightly pathetic dream, I do wish it would happen...

I dreamed the Firefly was picked up by SciFi as a series again. Image my pain and suffering when upon waking I realized it just wasn't so. Sad, definetly. Pathetic, perhaps. Just a dream?, I hope not!

Of course my consulation is that if they picked up the series they would probably screw it up again anyway. It only took in 22 million to date at the box office, which is dissapointing to all of us fans.

We could just dream of a sequel... or perhaps finance a sequel and there's nothing wrong with that! It has a great rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so if you haven't seen it you should before it's out of theaters. Although I bet it will do very well in DVD sales... if the world is at all fair.

Six Months

It's official I have been dating my boyfriend for six months this weekend. All of you who have been in relationships longer can scoff and those of you who haven't been in relationships can be in awe... or something similar like jealousy. :-) We celebrated by staying in and watching the movie Crash, which was very good, though I do not think it is a 'searing look at racial relationships in America' - I think it was more honest. I think everything in the movie are things that we think, do or feel even though we may not want to admit it. And it was redeeming at the end, which I felt was nice.

Has anybody else noticed how many Disney films are currently released from the 'Disney Vault'? I thought the vault was a secure place, but apparently it's not in the face of sagging sales. Not only are Brother Bear, Cinderella, and Tarzan currently available but The Emperor's New Groove and Toy Story and A Bug's Life are also. It's Disney gone mad!! I guess I just didn't realize how many movies they put out in a year.

This is a random entry and I am sorry for that, but I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. I also found my Cinnamon Chips and will now be able to cook up a scone storm! It's exciting!!

Suggestions of Holidays

All of have different things we do to get into the holiday season - and yes I am looking forward to it with wild abandon even as I type. I happen to start baking a lot more (and if I could find cinnamon chips again I would be happy). I bake Finnish Coffee Bread, sugar cookies, oatmeal cookies, molasses cookies, and scones. My mom makes the most amazing apple pie and cinnamon rolls, which perhaps I'll be kind enough to help her with this year - but for some reason they always taste better when she makes them.

Oh, and hopefully on November 1st I will break out the holiday decorations that my mother so kindly bought me last year! Ooooo, I can't wait! Quizz will probably destroy my tree since he's only half as big as it...

What do you do to begin your holiday festivities?

Where Art Thou My Scrubs?

I have noticed that I cannot find Scrubs on TV, granted now that I have more of a life I haven't been watching as diligently as I should, however it shouldn't be that hard to find such a great show. Is it gone? Does anybody know where my Scrubs are? I miss them... though Two and a Half Men is pretty hilarious, it doesn't replace the Scrubs...

Losing My Readers

It's that time of year again, when it is hard to write blog articles because the sun goes down at 6pm and gets up at 8am and all I want to do is sleep. That and I don't have a computer at home, which might mean I have a life... or it might not. I would sure be playing tons of Bookworm if I had my own computer and what fun that would be!!

My brother and sister-in-law are going to find out the sex of their baby in a few weeks so that we will know if they are going to have a Maximus or an Ella. Those are names that I picked out, except for the Maximus - my brother does want that name. I guess you all will know only if I am allowed to post it on here, which is up to the happy couple.

You know what was great when I was in high school? The answering machine message that pretended you were there. You know what's not so great to get now? Yep... the same thing! Granted, I get more of these than my fair share because I work with college students, but it's getting old people... and really not so funny. I sure don't bust out laughing. However if you want to encourage people to moo before they begin their message, that might be funny...

Serenity and Authors

This past weekend was packed full of fun times! On Sunday I went and saw Audrey Niffenegger read her new book Three Incestuous Sisters, which is more of a picture book, though definetly not for children. It was very very interesting, while at the same time a bit disturbing. I got the new book signed and I also got my very own paperback of The Time Traveler's Wife signed as well. My co-worker I went with had a first edition of The Time Traveler's Wife and a proof as well! She managed to get both of those signed, and we got free broadsides for buying the new book. I have yet to find a frame for the broadside and I am a little nervous out it because it's worth money and in my possession...

Ms. Niffenegger did reccommend a book she is currently reading in proof which is about a traveling Catholic circus. It is called 'Life and Resurrection' or something of that nature. She is going to blurb it, but it probably won't be out for about another few months (at least). The way she described it reminded me of Carnivale and I thought perhaps those interested in that show would like the book.

Don't worry, I am not going to review Serenity, except to say that you should see it. I read one review that said the special effects were bad - but they aren't. Sure they aren't Star Wars, but quite frankly who wants to watch that movie again... not me...
