Everybody's Weeding for the Weekend

This weekend we drove down to Oregon for a the weekend, to see Scott's family for Father's Day and his dad's birthday. It was fun, although not as relaxing as one might wish for the weekend.

We got back late last night, and it was nice to wake up Sunday here. I got a lot done, specifically an hour and a half of solid weeding. Then I put down some preen on the areas I weeded, because I'm sick of weeding. I also replanted three of my four pots that are on the walkway up to my house. I wanted more pansies (which were destroyed, presumably by a cat), but apparently it isn't the season for them anymore. So now I have two pots of Gerbera daisys, a Geranium, and a few Petunias. Maybe I'll take a picture someday...

I still have tons of work to do. Apparently it's a lot to ask of my plants to STOP GROWING until I catch up with trimming them.

Our neighbors are selling their house and I thought about putting the link to their house on here, but I don't really want to give away where I live. If you want to see the house email me and I'll send you the link. They are asking a very reasonable price, the only bad thing is that they told us about eight weeks ago that they were replacing the fence between our properties. We, being good neighbors, offered to pay for the half of the fence between our two properties and they accepted. Now if you were planning to sell your house wouldn't you let your neighbors know that 'hey, we're preparing to sell, so we'll recoop that money'?? I would, because it's not polite to take your neighbors money when you are planning on leaving. And don't tell us they can't afford it, they will be making DOUBLE what they paid for the house 10 years ago if they get their asking price.

Other than that, things are pretty calm here.

Summer Break

My step kids begin their last week of school tomorrow, and may I just mention how late school seems to run now? I swear I used to get off in May.

This article is not about that, but about how, on my 10 year high school reunion year (aahh!), I am bummed about my lack of summer breaks. I remember my last 'real' summer break, where I sat at home and did nothing. It would be the year I turned 16... it was wonderful. When I was 17 I had a job as a Receptionist at K&B Homes, then when I was 18 (the summer when I left for college) I was working as a Data Entry Clerk for the same company. Those were still pretty awesome summers, I worked early mornings and usually got my afternoons off - so I didn't have to be bummed about missing my friends. Anyway, by the time I started my freshman year in college, free summers were a memory of the past. Unlike some, I worked 2-4 jobs during each summer I was in college, which gave me very little free time... not that I minded at the time. But I don't think I realized it was my last opportunity to be free during the summers...

Unless I quit and decide to become a teacher. Hmmmm....

So this summer I am going to try and get caught up in the yard, plan a summer vacation with the step kids, and try and plan a trip to Minnesota (at least, I'm hoping). It's just not as relaxing as it used to be when I'd stay in bed until 2pm after going to bed at midnight, those were the days...

New Haircut

Today I finally got a new haircut. The last time I got my haircut was in November and I let my hubby's hairdresser do it - I was so tierd of layers, but I still wasn't thrilled with the results. Now I am excited to have layers and have my hair appropriately thinned out for summer, yay! See my new haircut, it's cute! Now I just need to keep up on it...

This is rather random, but thought I'd share seeing a Great Blue Heron on my way to work last week. It was really beautiful and for a few minutes I thought it was fake, but then it moved and I realized it was real! So I snapped this picture and thought it was great that on my way to work (from the 'country') I get to see such wildlife. As long as it's not in front of my car suddenly...

Hope everybody has a great day at work!

Newest Season Ticket Holder

Say hi to the newest Season Ticket Holder for the Seattle Seahawks!!

That's right! We have two Season Tickets this year for the whole season at Qwest field. You will all get lots of pictures (taken with my cell phone) that show us celebrating when we beat the Bears, 49ers and Packers (and they will win more, but I won't be at AWAY games obviously).

Woot!
