Strange messages

I got into work this morning and had a message on my machine waiting for me. Being the good worker that I am I checked it right away. To my surprise it was a misdirected call, but a most funny one as well. Someone named Susan called and wanted a reference for a certain someone else... a someone else who 'stole' my boyfriend during college. Then I had to room with said someone before I left to go to Wales. It made me laugh that somehow the reference person got misdirected to me, but I did not take my revenge by telling them that she was a horrible worker and worthy of not working ever again (which I have no idea whether that'd be true or not). Instead I re-directed them to the correct phone number so they could get whatever reference she does or does not have.

Even though she has the skin color of a umpa-loompa. Sorry, I had to be unkind once today!! :-)

Yesterday involved a lot of packing up of cars. It was fun... or at least tiring.

More funness to be had

So yesterday was fun. I had my 'work' party out of the way. I got to pick the desserts, and I chose cream puffs... they were really delicious! We had both chocolate and vanilla filled ones, though I had vanilla and feel they were superior. I had a few nice speeches made about me, and I got to make a speech about how great an opportunity the help desk has been for me. I will really miss all the people here, especially my great employees who are the coolest kids at Bethel. And my awesome co-workers, who always have a sense of humor about everything. (avalon went down - hahahahah!)

After I finished work I went down to Grand Ave with my mom and we walked around a bit and went into the Irish store and then the Bibilot (does anybody know what Bibilot means?). Then down to Juut where I got my bangs trimmed up. We ate at Chipotle, now located on Grand and Victoria, and it was the first time my mom had eaten it. I think she enjoyed it, but then my family is pretty bored by food.

I got to have some Dairy Queen last night too, that was nummy even though it wasn't ice cream. Today I have a meeting with my head boss before I leave and it should be exciting, I'm heading up there right now... I would be worried about getting fired except then I'd get more money :-)!! (Money is all that matters in life right?)

Packing Packing Packing

So whenever I do the three title thing it usually means I am singing to the tune of 'rollin, rollin, rolling, keep those doggies rollin'. Now you know.

All I did last night was pack and move stuff around my house. My mom got into town and got me hopping around and doing stuff. We went for a walk too - around my block. That (sadly) was the first time I had walked around my neighborhood other than the time I went running in the rain. But that was more because it was raining and not to go for a walk.

I'm a little nervous about all the cleaning. I don't want to leave Bran with all of it because she will fly out and hurt me... okay maybe she won't but it wouldn't be nice. My mom swept out the garage this morning and so that's two big things down. I'm taking time off work tomorrow so that I can clean. Anybody who wants to can join me... anyone? anyone? bueller? ... bueller?

A nickle (or a candy bar) to anybody who can name the title and author of the poem quoted underneath the name of the blog! It isn't that hard and it's one of my favorite ones by the author...

Cleaning Cleaning Cleaning

Last night there was plenty of cleaning going on in my house. I used the new Dawn Power Dissolve stuff and, at the risk of sounding like a housewife, it is just amazing!! You spray it on and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then all the grease just wipes off. I cleaned the top of the oven last night. Although I didn't clean where the plugs went in because it was electric and I don't want to die that way.

I'm about half packed. All I am wondering now is how we are going to pack everything up and move it. I think I might have to ship some of my boxes of books across instead of putting them in the car.

My mom is going to be here today and that is always exciting! She's bringing the dog with her, which I commonly refer to as 'my dog' though it is not. Her name is Tisha, and yes, that has been the name of two other dogs in our house. My mom actually wanted to name a daughter Tisha (since it is a person's name in the book titled Tisha). So I should just be glad my name isn't that, I feel I would be a much nicer person if my name was Tisha... but maybe that's just me.

I need to stop using the word just... what does it mean anyway? Whenever I ask that you can bet I just looked it up, bwhahahaa... ok but just means a lot of things and i'm not expanding my blog to fit it here. Look it up yourself.

Wild Weekend

My weekend was full of fun stuff. I had a going away BBQ on Saturday which was thrown by some of my good friends. It was so much fun, even though it was cold outside. I chilled with some friends who I probably won't see again for a long time and it was funny because I thought 'we should do this more often'. Alas I will not be here to do this more often though...

The one memorable thing about Saturday was this incredibly story Troy told about how an orthopedic surgeon bungeed his son to a tree in order to set his femur. It was an amazing story, but it makes one faint. By the way, did anybody else know you could go Helio-snowmobiling?? Jeff, this would interest you... just don't break your femur!!

I went to church on Sunday but ended up leaving before I went ballistic and beat the couple in front of me (or chucked my keys at them - which I seriously considered). I was very pissed by the time I left church. I just don't think couples should molest each other during a service, especially when single people are around. Holding hands, or having your arm around the girl is one thing... but rubbing her back through out the entire service???? GET A ROOM WHERE THERE ARE NO OTHER PEOPLE!! Oh, I need to rub your back, and your arms, and you neck, and your face, and give you kisses... you get my point....

I saw the movie Ella Enchanted yesterday, it was really cute - though definetly geared for kids. I went with Lo and Nick; after helping Nick spend some money on new dishes. He didn't actually spend the money yesterday but we picked out the pattern.

My mom is in Missoula, MT right now. She should be here on Tuesday, the last two days she stopped at people's houses she knew. Apparently my best friend from my pre-kindgarten days is getting married... see and here illustrated is the reason I'm moving - maybe I'll be getting marriend in a year. Course I'm going to Vegas...

Exchange (my mail client) is back up. So I'm going to respond to some emails and then hopefully send some out before I go to my Excel class today!

Megs and Lo and Bran, thanks so much for throwing me that party this weekend. It was so much fun! And Megs thanks for letting us crash at your place and letting us set the record for how many people were crammed in there. (Course I think you might've broken it that night). Have a happy Monday!

Getting Asked Out By College Boys

So here's my story:

Yesterday some poor guy needed a speaker adapter for his laptop, we don't really have adapters so our only option would have been to give him speakers. Unfortunately we don't really have speakers available because, well just because, however I have two pairs because I have two computers... well that and my boss hasn't realized that I have two pairs of speakers so he hasn't taken away a pair yet...

Since I wasn't using my Macintosh's speakers for my iTunes like usual (instead I was shopping iTunes on my PC...my PC being the only machine with a burner) I let him borrow my Macintosh ones... he said he would return them after an hour or so...

However I left early since I stayed late the night before and I can't come into work late because nobody will open the lab for me... wow they are really screwed when I leave in two weeks :-)... anyway the point being that I left early...

So I come in this morning and there are my wonderful speakers sitting on one of my chairs. On top of the speakers is a note:

dear Tenley,
thank you for letting
me use your speakers,
as a way of showing
my graditude, I would
like to take you out to
dinner sometime!
paul x6776 call me!

Wow makes one feel really special.... sigh... until you realize that the handwriting looks exactly like brooke's.... wait a minute and paul's number is x6776.... hmmm....

So ha ha you guys, but you didn't get me to fall for it! Not that I would have called that guy and let him take me out either way... I'm too old for him....

But this reminds me of another time I was hit on by a Bethel boy, unfortunately he didn't want to date me once he found out I went to Bethel, dumb boys...

Getting Ready

Much has happened in the past week. I have hung out with some awesome people whom I might not have so much time to chill with the next week and a half (aaaahhh!). I can't believe my moving date is so close! I am really excited to be moving out there, but I can't believe how much I have left to do.

There are several parties planned in the next two weeks, one is on the 24th for friends and the other is on the 30th for ITS student workers. If you want to know what is happening for any of these please call me.

I shopped this weekend (again) and it was fun! I just need to finish returning everything I don't want. I bought a suit this weekend though and I think it looks pretty snazzy for interviews. I have two other blazers as well, from Brandi because she's too skinny for them now. Wait, what does that say about me? Hmmm... I'll just focus on the fact that she's 8 inches shorter...

Bran bought me some super cute capri's - I'm wearing them today if you get a chance to stop in and see them...

Me and Bran are rapidly running out of food, well food we want to eat anyway. We stopped the credit card thing last Friday or so, which is good because I can't take any food with me. But now I look at the cupboards and don't want to spend my own money filling it up... aren't I cheap? In a week my mom will be making food for me though... course I have to clean out the cat box in exchange... and it's in my bathroom... I think am going to need a glade plug-in...

Nothing else to say right now, except that 'The Passanger' is Sydney's sister... if you don't know what I'm talking about that's probably a good thing... Did you know Jennifer Garner named her dog Martha Stewart because she likes Martha that much? Wow...I don't even think I like my mom that much, course my mom would probably hurt me if I named a dog after her...

First Sign of Summer

So as I was enjoying the wonderful weather that is spring I was buzzed, repeatedly, by a large flying insect. It decided that it needed to get a head start on summer and chase me arond a little. (The only real reason I gain weight during the winter is because no flying insects are chasing me.)

I'm just glad the June Bugs aren't going to be out before I leave; please, please let them not be out before I leave. Those things are so nasty, at least here they are smaller then the ones in Alaska... all you MN people who think your bugs are big - they are NOTHING compared to AK bugs. AK bugs have never heard of pesticides; and you all complain about misquitos like they are attacking you in the cities. Let me just tell you that I grew up next to a river and a stagnant mosquito breeding ground... there were more mosquitos around my house than most of you have ever seen in one place.

But June bugs are the worst.... icky....

So hello flying bugs, and hello summer!

Thinking of something fun

So Megs asked me if I wanted to do something fun in the Cities before I leave, but we have done a lot (we were college students together). Does anybody have any suggestions of what might be one thing you 'need' to do before leaving the Cities? Please share!!

Getting hit on by Old Men

So I was at Kinko's the other day, Friday actually, and as I was finishing up my faxes to Barnes & Noble this 'older' man decided to start hitting on me. 'Older' is probably an understatement since he was 50 if he was a day. So the following is a collection of some of the lines he tried to use, not neccessarily in the order they were said, and my response to them. Feel free to use these lines, but don't expect to get any girls this way (or guys for that matter).

You are very beautiful.
Um, yeah, well I try. (laugh) I paint the barn when it needs painting.(gesturing to face)
You don't have to try.
Sure...
I can tell class when I see it.
Well, see it's my new purse, it makes me classy. (seatbelt bags do, I swear)
No you can have class without trying. I can see class a mile away and you have it.
Uh, yes, well...
Your parents must have been very attractive.
Well they were, Irish and French make a good combination.
I wish I looked like you.
I'm sure you could, it would just take a lot of plastic surgery, but you could get there.
(laughing)So where are you sending faxes to?
Washington, I'm moving there and looking for some jobs. (other crap about jobs)
(FINALLY THE FAX CONFIRMATION COMES OUT AND I CAN LEAVE)
So are you married?
No, I'm single.
So am I!
I think you are a little out of my 10 year age range.
(laughs)
Goodbye and leaves...

So the good news is that I am sufficiently hot enough to get hit on by 50 year old men at Kinko's, maybe I should go there more often. But the better news is that I can make slightly witty remarks while being increasingly embarrassed.

Oh and I don't date old men...

HAPPY EASTER!

Holy Thursday

And so the weekend of Easter begins. With me being so tierd (yes tierd not tired, I am single handedly going to change the spelling of that word...) that I could fall asleep at my desk at any moment.

Really most of the time my life is pretty boring...

I got an email from a friend in CA this morning, chadly always makes me think and always has interesting comments to write... he's right too, I'm probably the only friend he has who reads his whole emails...

I've applied to Crista, Tiffany's & Co., and I'm applying sometime today to Barnes and Noble. B&N should be a fun job, I really want the Community Relations Manager position because it would be helping literacy and literary groups. Ah, maybe they aren't the evil bookselling machine I once thought they were. Speaking of evil corporations, I have also written to a contact in Starbucks... I could become even more caffinated then normal... it could be scary. If I worked for Tiffany I would be sure to buy everyone a diamond ring, ok maybe I'd only be sure to buy myself one....

brooke buy me a hot chocolate!

Last long Tuesday

Mondays aren't the best day of the week; all I did yesterday was pack and meditate, then I went to bed early after finishing a book.

Tuesdays aren't either. Today is my long day, and I get to go to Megs' birthday party tonight. I'm excited about the party. Who knows if I'll be able to get up tomorrow though - I get off at 10:30pm and then get to party until the wee hours of the morning. Maybe I just won't sleep at all. I also have to think of a gift to get megs, maybe I'll pay her back for fronting my cover a week ago. Ok, ok I know that isn't really a gift... I also have to get Betsy something, I'm horibbly late when I give gifts.

Today is my last working day at Kohl's, come say goodbye to me if you want!

We are having a going away party for me at my work on Wednesday April 28. If you are going to be in the area and want to come along please let me know!

Weekend Shopping Spree

Ah, is there anything so fun as spending alot of money you don't have on a weekend shopping spree? Granted I'll have to return a lot of it later, but the experience of buying it is enthralling. Plus I got to shop with some chicks I might not have a chance to shop with again.

I actually shoped for 5 hours on Saturday and for 4 hours on Sunday, I think that counts as a workday... I should get an extra day off this week for that - in addition to Good Friday.

I went to church on Sunday and it was a very good message about 'Prioritize and Simplify' which should help me plan my life out when I move. Now I know how I should live... though it will take me a while to get there.

I cleaned out my car this weekend too - finally. I even 409ed some spots in the seats. Alas I did not finish it, I should do that today if it is warm enough. The weather men were saying something about rainshowers. (booo!) I should pack some too, pretty sad that I did very little of that this weekend. Oh, and my resume and cover letters - anybody want to help me out here? I just need to be super human...

April 3, 1982

Death be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou are not so
For whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And doest with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy, or charms can make us sleep as well,
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
This was written by Rev. John Donne in the 1600s.

I don't mean this to be an entirely depressing entry, but I really have no clue how to make it less depressing. My father died on this day and every year I think of him. I usually miss him more around this time of year; this year has been a little bit different. But I hope he still knows I'm looking forward to meeting him in heaven someday...

Everybody I know gets a little sad around the days that someone they loved died. I hope you can all think of this poem and feel a little cheer in your heart - or at least be able to say 'screw you death' when you're done reading it.

Moving

So today I read all of my friend's blogs and I was struck by the fact that nobody mentioned that I resigned from my job on Monday. Don't you all care? Sniff... Paul said that it was because not everybody knows I'm leaving yet, or at least not offically.

At any rate I am moving on May 1st of this year. I am really sad to move and leave everybody here in Minnesota, but I am excited go to a new place and meet new people. Plus then I'll get rid of this nasty Minnesota accent I've picked up, I sound like I belong in Fargo... almost.

So I need everybody's address, if I haven't got it email it to me.
