Lazying Around

I haven't updated in a while, mostly because I was gone last weekend. I went down to California to see my brother and his family. It was a lot of fun! I got to see my brother graduate from the Police Academy and is now a full fledged Deputy. He was the class speaker and he did a great job giving the speech! Should I brag more.. he was also number 1 in his class, and number 1 academically.

My mom and I hung out with Christy and Marcus the next day, and it was great to see Marcus now that he is speaking more. He is very adorable, even though he is going through his terrible twos. I am guessing this phase bothers his parents more than his grandma and aunt - we always get to give him back. :-)

We returned home last Sunday and I have had a pretty good week. I was able to get back into yoga. Yoga is great for me, now I am trying to think of ways to eat healthier. Most of you know this is a real challenge for me since I am a very picky eater. Wish me luck and feel free to give me ideas.

Well have you ever tried vanilla yogurt - the Mountain High Original Style Whole Milk is the best - it's good for your gut. Also, wheat bread or something comparable - just not Wonder - which I guess you don't eat much of. And oatmeal - from scratch - w/cinnamon & nutmeg & salt - is always a good meal. :) Other than that - maybe some salad neked - if you want. Thanks for playing the online games w/me - :) Luv, Mom!

ooo yeah, oatmeal!! you can dress oatmeal up in a few different ways too - just find the one you love the most! my fave is a titch of honey (instead of my beloved brown sugar).

dip is a huge weakness of mine, but i've figured out a way to make it not so much of a guilt complex. i buy a carton of nonfat or lowfat sour cream (brand and quality of your choice) and i put a packet of nonfat hidden valley ranch powdered dressing into it and stir... voila! perfect for all veggies. yes, there's salt in there, but it's a TON better for you than store bought pre-made stuff.

oh, if that didnt clue you in, i'm all about substitutions and "cheats" to supplement my healthier diet. my theory is: your taste buds shouldnt suffer! :o)

Tell your brother congratulations! You all must be so proud!

I don't know if I am a healthy eater or not, but the best healthy eating principle that I can think of is "the less processed the food, the better it is." So, you know, whole grains and fresh veggies (or meat), etc. Oh, and also, "everything in moderation." No that I am applying that to ice cream, at the moment. As I have mentioned I am very conflicted about that craving. :) Okay, and (last one), each time you make a healthier food choice, you are doing your body a favor. Go for improvement, not perfection. I sound very Zen for someone who orders out a lot. :) And I love hummus/carrots and cottage cheese/mandarin oranges
