I just thought the quiz on USA Today was very interesting, it matches your key beliefs with the presidential candidate hopeful who is most like you.
I knew who I would match - Rudy Guiliani, who for some reason I think would be a great candidate because I am right down the middle, and so is he. My second two candidates were Democrats, but both have dropped out already.
If you are interested in taking the quiz click here and enjoy the result! That and hopefully you can vote in a primary that will make a difference - I know I won't be.
(ps no dissing each other's choices!)
Posted by 10lees at January 27, 2008 03:39 PMMitt Romney is my 1, Fred Thompson is my number 2. I was supporting Fred, but he's dropped out.
For some of those questions it was hard to choose one answer. If I would have chosen differently it had Romney as 2 and Fred as 1.
Also, your link is broken. You have herf instead of href.
thanks bleaus! I fixed it and it works now.
Posted by: 10lees at January 27, 2008 05:38 PMI don't think the guage is right - I'm not really in the middle as I'm really conservative.
But it's Romney, Thompson & Huckabee. I heart Huckabee - so cute! But I haven't looked into any of their views very carefully. I know that McCain is too off the wall for me - as he changes his mind really quickly and that makes me uncomfortable. Love, Mom
well, that was pretty obvious... :o) #1 barack, #2 hillary, #3 mccain.
however, i got a letter from my county saying that im not able to vote in the primaries. i'm really pissed off about this b/c i know i filled out all the paperwork accurately and in full. the plan is to visit city hall tomorrow or wednesday to ask "wtf!!??" (well, i promise i'll be polite...) ;o)
i want to vote in the primaries in my current county b/c it will be the first time where i'm voting for the minority party. st. paul & chicago were blue-through-and-through, but dupage county has always been as red as a cabaret girl's rouge.
Posted by: dr gonzo at January 28, 2008 08:21 AMoh man! I hope you are able to vote in the primaries - that would be awesome. tell us how it goes!
Kucinich (out of the race) and Edwards were at the top of my list. I would be a libertarian except that I want to take care of the environment and the poor. :)
National elections are a big thing for us DC-ers -- we feel special because we get a vote. Since we don't have Represantives or Senators, we often feel slighted. Grrr.
Posted by: Jessica at January 28, 2008 12:51 PMi cant vote. i hate il bureaucracy.
Posted by: dr gonzo at January 29, 2008 08:10 AMoh bummer! I am sorry dr g
Jess - weren't they working on getting you a rep or senator? Or did that fall through the cracks...
Posted by: 10lees at January 29, 2008 09:19 AMBelieve it or not Congress couldn't agree. :)
It gets complicated because of a) the constitution (really, don't ask, it's complicated) and b) politics... if you give DC two reps/senators, then Puerto Rico wants some, and [insert any red state here] gets upset because it will throw off the dem/rep balance, etc...
Ce la vie. If I want a rep, I guess I could just move to one of the fifty states that have them. :)
Posted by: Jessica at January 29, 2008 01:16 PMHey Gonzo,
Here we have a provisional ballot - which means - i guess - you can walk into any polling place and vote and then they check the list later???
MAYBE!?
yeah, i pretty much questioned the bejebus out of my poor county voting commission representative... there's nothing i can do. il does that a lot - the public encourages and gets all passionate about change and improvements, but the actual government keeps it's thumb on the processes, making it harder for the public to vote or act on those changes. its rather futile and depressing. hence, i feel futile and depressed. :o)
