My weekend was pretty low key, very nice to sleep a little bit. I did survive losing an hour and even managed to get up (and get my hubby up) for church at 8am. The service was pretty good, I didn't like the way that the pastor asked for money by using the verse 'you who sow much will reap much, ect'... really I don't like using that verse for donations to the church. The worship service was more like they were playing 'at' you instead of being supportive of the singing. Granted, there wasn't a large crowd because of daylight savings, I'm assuming, since the church has two Saturday services and three Sunday ones. We may go back, the message was pretty good, even though the pastor went off on some tagents. The other churches we went to have all been Lutheran, and I haven't liked them as much.

At work we are still waiting for the results of the Audit we had last week, we know we probably got dinged on a few things, but overall we did pretty well. We don't have a Director for our department yet, however there may be news about that soon!! It will be interesting to see how someone new meshes in with our department.

Our 'Pinapple Express' this weekend didn't drop nearly as much rain as expected, or as many pinapples really. We have such odd terms in this area, sunbreaks, pinapple express, convergence zone, it's like they've made up a whole series to describe the weather. I especially like it when they can't figure out how cold it is going to be so they just drop the temperature forcast by 4 degrees every forecast, or they way they predict it will be 'partly sunny' or 'partly cloudy'... I mean do they just alternate terms so we won't be bored? Anyway, that's my rant for the day...

Well it's good to see you're getting into the weather comments. How about the convergence zone is where a couple systems USUALLY converge - well that's where we live close to Everett. It can be hailing here and windy but sunny elsewhere. And the Pineapple Express is that it's a south warm wind - supposedly with lots of rain - but the lots of rain didn't materialize.

How about Andy Wopler and how he always talks about SNOW in the forecast. Glenn thinks he says it WAY too much - even in the summer he tries to get away with it by saying that somewhere in the world it's snowing above 10k feet.

I think you're right about the Partly Cloudy and Partly Sunny - although my interest is in the sunny part.

Can't wait for the sun to come out and play again.

Tonite I was looking out the window and you wouldn't believe how fast the clouds were moving - 100 mph I bet - but we're in the convergence zone and that happens sometimes. :)

Unlike T!

M

Partly cloudy means there's more clouds than sun, and partly sunny means there's more sun than clouds. It seems like you usually get partly cloudy before storms and partly sunny afterwards, but that may just be my imagination.

I'd never heard of the pinapple express, but it's a hilarious name!

I just did a little research on the matter and what I found is that the terms are pretty much interchangeable. They describe the same thing but it has to do with previous weather. It is partly sunny after a time when it was cloudy and it is partly cloudy after a time of being sunny. So the terms describe the trend. Oh and partly sunny only applies to the day (since the sun isn't out at night).

Oh and by research I mean google.

well jeff i'd say your research makes sense, as it matches up with Lo's intuition of 'after/before storms'. I will have to keep that in mind when hearing the weather. Out here it feels rather like they are just alternating the phrases so that you don't feel you are hearing the same thing every day...
