Painting The House

Some of you may have heard me complain about Scott's house... perhaps not about the house precisely, but the color scheme contained within the house. Last weekend we took some much needed time and, after deciding what paint color to use (which was an adventure in itself), we began painting. Isn't this where you'd want to eat dinner? This is the Dining Room: the color on the walls is actually an Army brown, the color on the cutout of the ceiling is dark red. There is wallpaper there as well, though only about two inches it was still a pain to remove.

This is what it looked like after one coat of primer all over, two coats of ceiling white, one and a half coats of wall color. The wall color looks very close to plaing and boring when you are in the house, but looked very dark originally going on. We were first shocked when we started to put in on the wall, but after a week or so with the color it seems almost as plain as white. Scott likes it and that is the important thing - talking him into 'not white' was hard, but at least he likes it now! Click here for finished room!

Hope you enjoyed the transformation! Don't worry, there is plenty more to come - we are doing the whole house, and i will be showing you more of it after I move in (after the wedding) and it is clean... hehe...

ohmigosh that looks so much better! very fresh and open! the old color scheme wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be, but the new stuff is sooo much better. that looks like a pretty tiny room, and the bigger you can make it look, the better.

so did you use your mad TCSP skills?? ;o)

I did use my mad TCSP skills, who do you think cut the ceiling and the floor and painted all the spots out, oh that's me. Seriously, though I need to go back over it because it is a little wavy in spots. Damn it's hard to cut a ceiling.

yeah, i did Spayne's red room, and there are a few spots where i cringe a bit at the corners. Spayne was in TCSP too for a bit, remember??! i guess cutting was not her forte...

betsy and i still talk about painting the apartment's porch. it coudl sure use a bit of color. we even checked out the leftover cans of paint in the basement. but everyone seems to favor drab colors like slate gray, white-blue and white-yellow... dagnabbit! ;o) can one complain about free paint?
