I hope you all enjoyed the game. The Seahawks recieved the brunt of the bad calling, or was it all the calling, was there even a penalty against The Steelers? I mean really, I know everybody wants them to win, but do they have to buy off the refs for them to do it? Anybody who saw that game could clearly see who was the better, more solid team. Although that third touchdown by The Steelers was very pretty, beautiful in fact. They can sure pull out those big plays. Of course whenever we pulled a big play it was revoked. Oh someone slighly pushed away from someone else - no touchdown! Oh, there was holding even though you can't see it at all on the tv, that catch within three yards of the end zone doesn't count. (Madden agrees with me!)
I think if you weren't invested in the Seahawks it was a very exciting game, but those calls sure got my goat. I couldn't believe some of them. I am glad we got one reversed (Hasselbeck was down by contact, you idiots).
Contrary to popular belief I will not be sending a frappacino through the mail, I will be sending a Starbucks gift card of that amount through the mail. I hope wiljefv enjoys it, even though he isn't a really big Steeler's fan - aren't you a Vikings fan??
Have a wonderful Monday!
Posted by 10lees at February 5, 2006 07:04 PMI agree. Seahawks got hosed!
Posted by: bleaus at February 5, 2006 07:46 PMI agree with you Shmen. Those Ref's were retarted. I especially liked the illegal block they called on Hasselbeck, when he was tackling the ball carrier. Genius!! I think they were bought. I'm speechless.................
Posted by: Roland at February 5, 2006 09:15 PMI don't even really like football. I just go to parties for the people, the commercials, and the food. Over half the game I couldn't really see the tv because of all the people where I was watching. By the way, tacos are a great party food. There are so many parts to them that each one can be assigned to different people.
Posted by: jeff at February 5, 2006 09:16 PMbest party food ever: guacamole, hands down. it works when you need to stuff your face with something so you dont start spewing out RAGE at the calls...
Posted by: dr gonzo at February 6, 2006 08:02 AMI agree that the 'hawks got hosed but I don't think Hassl' was down by contact. No one touched him after or during when his knee hit the ground from what I saw. He just tripped and coughed up the ball, bad monkey. That was brutal reffing. I've been in class so far this week but I'm going to catch up on my 'net reading tonight and I"m hoping to find some articles lambasting the refs.
Posted by: JoeBuck at February 7, 2006 03:50 PMI was rooting for the Seahawks, the coach's wife and daughter were hangin' out in Africa in the town in which my mom grew up, doing medical missions stuff, so I felt some connection (where as I would have cared less otherwise).
How disappointing!!! I also didn't like some of the calls, but I'm a bit biased, I suppose
Posted by: laura at February 7, 2006 07:21 PMI am biased as well, I am surprised someone hasn't disagreed with me yet - although on the Hasselbeck down by contact (joeBuck) there was contact as Steeler had touched him with his whole palm. Now I realize it isn't touch football, but technically it counts :-) Though forward any articles to me, I haven't seen any at all!
Posted by: 10lees at February 7, 2006 07:35 PMI could be wrong but I'm operating under the assumption that the player has to be touched, the contact part, after they have touched the ground in sense than their knees or back or whatever hit the ground. So I can't touch a receiver at the line of scrimige, have him run down feild, catch a pass and trip *cough*hasselbeck*cough* and be down. He would have to trip and fall and then any type of contact, the palm being a good example, would cause him to be down. If this isn't the case then I'm way off base and fully yeild. Assuming my understanding is correct my issue was that hasselbeck was touched with the open palm before his body hit the ground, not after.
This is a pretty trivial point given that the seahawks got screwed over so many times that this one point pales in comparison.
Get angry Seattle. Go smack around some canucks or something.
I'm officially wrong. Nick explained to me why I'm wrong and I understand now. He was down, they made the right call.
