Splinters Aren't Great

My weekend was rewarding, today I don't think I left the house except for brunch. Of course that doesn't mean I haven't been doing anything, even though I haven't taken a shower yet. It was very nice and relaxing for a change, like a mini vacation.

I did wander outside both on Saturday and Sunday to do some yard work / gardening. What makes it gardening instead of yard work? I am not sure, but I will go ahead and say it is gardening because that makes me feel more special. I was trimming some of my hedges, though I only managed it for about twenty minutes on Saturday and an hour on Sunday. It is definetly easier to do with my mom here, since I feel like I am able to get more done. I am trying to take slow steps though, if I can do about a half hour of gardening four to five times a week I will be getting some great exercise. Hopefully I will be able to keep it up.

We do have some 'devil plants' which are, for one, way overgrown and, for two, have hideous thorns. After I trim the plants I have to pick up each of the branches I cut one by one. It still didn't work totally, I had to pull two splinters out of my hand after I got back inside. It wasn't very pleasant, hence my title.

I am also addicted to Scrabulous on Facebook now, basically playing a lot of Scrabble online. It's quite fun, it's even more fun if you can use some of those handy online sites that tell you what words could be made out of your rack. Is that cheating?

One thing to recommend: Hot Fuzz. Amazing, hilarious, I loved this movie. It is pretty bloody, so it's not recommended for my mom, but I think most of my other friends would get a kick out of it. The ads showed a huge gun battle, but the most fun is what leads up to it (it's the climax). Rent it, watch it, and enjoy!

Yeah - that's gardening - I don't like the term "yard work" that's just mowing the lawn or something mundane as raking. ;) Sounds like you are having a good time. I will try to make it down in September. As next weekend is your anniversary weekend - I'M NOT COMING DOWN THEN. :)

Where were your devil plants - were they in the front of the yard along the street? Those may be hawthorne or are they purpulish/pink leaves?

Becoming Jane was awesome. I think you'll like the restraint and responsibility of the characters. :)

two words - LEATHER GLOVES - didn't I leave some with you?

CHEATER! Yes, asking a computer to think up moves for you is cheating, and, I will have you know, so far, I have come up with all my words myself. Booo to your cheating. No wonder you are beating me.

I typically think of gardening as anything to do with digging in the dirt (weeding, planting, and/or watering flowers/veggies, etc.) and yard work as anything to do with trees, bushes, and grass (i.e., trimming, mowing, watering, and/or planting of trees, bushes, and grass).

I loved Hot Fuzz. Great movie!

Actually I haven't used it on our game because I was playing our game from work and I don't have time, or the ability, to look up words on the internet without it looking wholly suspicious. But the other ones I was using it with - and if you look at my stats you will find it pretty sad, I've lost 4 games and won 1. But that is largely because I don't play the game right. I am figuring it out slowly. My mind just doesn't work the 'create words out of these letters' way... the cheating is helping me there though :-)

Scott says I am cheating too... ah well... i can live with that

Gardening is like cooking -- it is always easier on the shows where the items are pre cleaned and chopped and measured. I would like someone to come to my house and pull all of the rocks out of my soil, fertalize, bring the plants from the nursery, and then I will throw the plants in the new, soft, clean soil. :)

Good work getting out there and trying to tackle nature -- it sounds like giomangi (sp) at your house! We have some wisteria and clematis (sp) that grow like weeds and we are affraid that they are going to attack us in our sleep. :)

I'm still trying to sort out where the protagonist got a white horse to ride in (i liked that there was a lot of little things like that where you had to be thinking a small bit to get). Good movie for sure.
