New Couches!

As most of you know, if you read this blog at all, we got new couches!! They were delivered yesterday to great acclaim by all in the house. To get the full effect of what we have done, I invite you to view the old couches here: old couch number 1 and old couch number 2. Aren't they hideous? We actually kept the white one, but it's in the front room and looks ok in there (we have blue walls in the front room). (And yes, my house was dirty in these pictures).

Onto the NEW couches, as I mentioned before they are amazingly comfortable. I am especially digging having a recliner again (I heart recliners), so without further ado here are the new couches: Gracie and Roland. Aren't they comfortable looking??

Now, I understand that for some reason one of our walls looks really dirty in the picture. I assure you I cannot see that in real life (probably cause I'm not looking at that wall, ever again(haha)) and we're going to paint it eventually anyway. Also, the red curtain on the door was purchased to match the couch and the purple scarfs will be replaced soon, hopefully with matching red ones.

Which brings me to a question, why in the heck is the curtain (84") only $19.99 and the scarfs (which are 6 feet or 72") are $39.99? This doesn't make any sense at all, I am very very tempted to purchase a curtain and just use it as a scarf, I mean, who's going to notice? It's a piece of red fabric!

Or if you really want to save money, just buy a few yards of red fabric.

Scarves might cost more for a couple reasons. First, it could be that they are made of different material. For example, perhaps the curtains are made of a sheer polyester blend or cotton while the scarves are made of something more expensive--perhaps a linen or a more expensive blend. It could also be that the companies are merely playing upon the fact that people will pay extra for accents. It could also be that the scarves have more pleats or gathers in them and, therefore, have extra fabric that doesn't go into the measurements. Frankly, I see no reason why any of these things should cost $20 extra, but whatever. I know nothing.

Nevertheless, your couches look lovely and comfy! I'm glad to see they were delivered as promised!

WOW that's a vast improvement over the other ones. And has that coffee table been there the whole time - it looks really nice!!! :)

Well I would just buy the less expensive or we'll go to Hancock Fabric and you can find something to your liking. ;)

Hope you have a relaxing evening.
Love,
Mom

it is amazing how much cleaner the room looks with the new couches. :) Really, they look great! It looks like the room is really coming together! I love the red window treatments and agree that spending the money for the swag is silly - modifying the curtain seems like a great idea.

My couch is a really nice... scratching post. I am only going to replace it when I find material that is cat proof. Microfiber was close, but then Zari found the seams. :)

Hi Jessica,
Keeping your cats claws cut back may help the scratching problem - it makes them less deadly.

well... the reason it might look cleaner is because I did spend a large portion of the day cleaning the house :-) But yes, the room just looks so much cleaner with them in it - even when it's not.

And my cat pees on my couches, not Quizz - the other one we just call 'kitty', we found out he has a UTI though, so hopefully he will stop.

You named your couches? Amusing. I can already imagine dozens of excellent inside jokes...

"So I was sitting on Roland the other day..."
"Gracie keeps getting change lost in her cracks..."

actually no... that was the name of the models per LA-Z-Boy. I may be slightly insane, but I still only name animated objects. :-)
