My Quizz Is Sick

Last night my poor little kitty (ok so he is 13.1 pounds, so perhaps not little) was wandering around meowing like his butt was on fire. I was very very worried he was sick, and as it was 7:15pm I decided it was now or never to get him into a vet. I don't have a vet in my area and I didn't want to take him to an emergerency room (because that would be hideously expensive). I opened up superpages and looked up vets in my area and proceeded to call around until I found an open one. After explaining the symptoms I was told to come in and ran my kitty over there. He was examined, which he seemed to really enjoy (haha), and diagnosed with a small bladder infection. Then I was taught how to shove a pill down a kitty's throat, and today I have actually succeeded in doing it twice!

Quizz is feeling much better today, which is very encouraging. What isn't encouraging is looking forward to many more pills, probably at least 7 days worth, and hoping that it isn't an ongoing problem as it can be in some male (or formerly male) cats.

That's the exciting news for right now!

Eeesh... forcing cats to swallow pills is never fun.

We always had to butter ours (the pills, not the cats) so they would go down easier.

Are trying to do this by yourself? If so, wow, good job. :P

I am actually succeeding in doing it myself, albeit with a little help from the cat (you know he swallows it, eventually). However I do have a special bond with my cat, he seems to think I am his mom. Which is sweet except that he is now a teenager and he scratchs, :-)

Buttering a cat, would that be like 'catch the buttered cat' type event?

poor quizz and mommy!! i hope he does better!!

you heard about betsy's kitty's problems, right? he gets major issues in that department so we feed him a special diet. usually problems like this develop in cats that are between 2 - 4 years old. so, you're lucky you caught it! :o) my recommendation, if you're so inclined, and if the vet didnt tell you already, is to feed Quizz urinary tract food only. no people food either, just in case.

i still feed romeo as he's a little feline garbage can (and yes, he still gets into the real garbage can at times) and poor betsy's kitties get a titch jealous... but what do i say?? "i'm HIS momma!! bwahahaha-hahahahah!"
