Administrative Professional's Day

I probably have a typo in there somewhere...

Anyway today is the day I get recognized for being the awesome organized professional person I am. (no snickering!) So my work gave me a wonderful little poem that came along with candy - you know the one that goes 'we wish we could take you on a shopping SPREE' and comes with chewy spree (yum!). I did get Lifesavers in that package, and I realized I haven't had Lifesavers in quite a while, I was looking forward to opening the package and digging in. I did so and realized that LIFESAVERS HAS STOLEN MY CHILDHOOD. That's right, they've replace all those nummy flavors of lime, orange and lemon (ok at least the didn't replace cherry) with crappy flavors of blackberry, watermelon, and another flavor I didn't try because I was so upset they had replaced them. Why?? I guess they were trying to recover the corner of the market they had lost with the advent of new sour spicy crazy hard candies. Except that those all suck, and Lifesavers was wonderful... so here's to the years we had, original Lifesavers...

I hope you are all having a wonderful day! And recognize those Administratives around you by buying them lunch, or a chocolate bar, or some Starbucks. I need to go gets me some coffee...

Blackberry? That sounds a little... desperate...

O happy day!!!
You should double check safeway or something to see if your work didn't just pawn off some candy they got from the 1cent store. There might still be the, "original" out there somewhere.
Then you could have your childhood back.
Love ya!!

I consider myself something of a candy/junkfood expert, so in my personal opinion, I believe you had the berry or possibly wild berry version of Lifesavers. This is of course only my opinion. I think original Lifesavers still exist, although, I believe they changed the pinapple flavor (my favorite) to something else. I don't know this for a fact, but that is the rumor I heard.

Interesting Life Saver History...

I didn't realize they had been around so long.

Perhaps I should have linked to this wonderful article about the change:
http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/food/2003-08-14-lifesavers_x.htm

They did change it - and they left in pinapple and cherry. I hated pinapple (no offense Lo), but it just wasn't my favorite. I still ate it, but I pretended it was coconut...

Well, that's shitty. I liked the lime. Booooo! Glad they left the pineapple, but who needs three varieties of "red" flavored things?
I knew there was a reason why I hadn't eaten lifesavers lately. Please excuse my outdated intel.

Anyway, the only real flavor is Butter Rum, which doesn't come in the roll anyway.

Butter rum does indeed come on the roll but is (perhaps it is a "was" now) only sold as a roll in the variety pack. The variety pack was the pack of like 10 rolls sealed in plastic and butter rum was one or two of those rolls.

There was a time when you could buy butter rum all by themselves in a roll, and I think you can buy them in a bag still. At least you could the last time I had a hankering for them. Lately I've moved on to chips and trying to find the perfect salsa. Mmmm. Chips and salsa.

mmm... butter rum. I like the idea of butter rum. Let me know if you find any ever.

As to secretary day, or whatever its official title is, mine was AWESOME! My boss took us all out to eat two days early, I had a three course meal, complete with a delicious dessert and coffee! (I never have dessert, sugar's forbidden, so extra special!)

The beaut' part of it was... my boss was GONE on the ACTUAL day! He had to leave the country the day before for a week long business trip.

What a gift. I felt truely appreciated. :)
