That's right it's time to stuff yourself silly with a variety of expensive cookies and support your local troop. Personally, I find eating them for breakfast to be most rewarding - and slightly less sickening than eating a full box at night. Do you know what I am referring to yet?? That's right - Girl Scout Cookies!
While I've never been a big fan of the Girl Scouts, my mom was in Campfire and I was made fun of by Brownies in 2nd grade and have never forgiven them, their cookies are quite delicious. It would be even better if I could come up with a way to steal cookies - they I could punish the Girl Scouts and still have deliciousness. Of course, that would be wrong - so I won't... unless I run into a Brownie that made fun of me in 2nd grade and SHE has a daughter selling cookies, then I haven't to admit, I would steal if I could. How likely is that??
So buy some cookies and support those girls - and try not to make yourself sick. Personally the Samoas (Carmel Delights on the East Coast) are the best. Yum! What is your favorite Girl Scout Cookie?
Posted by 10lees at March 3, 2006 10:30 AMgirl scouts have a tendancy to change the names of cookies every few years. they think it keeps us on our toes. really, it's very annoying and asinine. i remember selling samoas under the name carmel delight... and then having to explain what happened with the name change to every single orderer after that...
yes, i was a girl scout. i enjoyed being a part of something bigger when i was a child. really though, i was jealous of my awana friends. they got cool trinkets and goodies every week! i was pretty lousy at selling cookies. i always sold enough to get a badge, thanks to mom's bow to the gods of motherhood - she brought my order form into her jazzercise classes where already overweight women trying to get thinner would drool as they checked "yes, lots, please" under Thin Mint ('thin' is in the name of the cookie, remember).
i am probably the only person i knwo who is able to keep at least one box of cookies stashed away for a whole year. in fact, i just finshed off the last box from last year. i'm not lying. and i'm looking forward to a fresh batch a la my cousin.
yum. eat in peace.
Posted by: dr gonzo at March 3, 2006 10:48 AMI don't understand why they don't sell girl scout cookies all year round. Wouldn't they make more money that way. And Megan you only have cookies left because I forgot you had them. If I had remember I would have eaten the rest of your thin mints a long time ago. If you still have them then you must just be one of those people who can eat just one or two at a time. Instead of like myself and Ten the whole box. Which is why they don't really last that long when I by them.
Posted by: b at March 4, 2006 06:44 AMI think if we could get Girl Scout cookies whenever we wanted, we wouldn't want them as much. I think it's a marketing ploy.
My favorite GS cookie disappeared. It was a shortbread sandwhich cookie with a cream center and a little bit of strawberry goodness on the top. I believe they were strawberry medallions or some such nonsense. It doesn't matter though because Pepperidge Farms sells them in their "Milano" type cookie packages, so I can still get them if I so desire. My current fav. are the Samoas although I am also enjoying the yumminess that are the new "low fat" lemon coolers. (Serving size = 5 cookies) I too am capable of saving cookies for a year. I just discovered that I still have a roll of thin mints from last year squirrled away in my freezer. Those are the bomb on ice cream. Mmmm. Ice cream.
Here's what I hate about GS cookie time. I am always starting my spring diet just before the cookies arrive. Bastards. ;)

Posted by: jeff at March 6, 2006 06:39 AMThey are called Caramel Delights here also. I think they changed the name a few years ago. I agree, they are the best.
