First Week of Work

This week I started my new job and it was very, very exciting. I feel really great about the position I have and the company I am working for. Currently I am taking the bus into work and walking from the stop to my job; the great thing is that the bus picks me up right outside my house in the morning so I don't even use my car except for exciting outings! It is going well and the excersize is good for me - right??

However here are some things I have learned in the first week:

1. No matter how comfortable your three inch heels are you will still injure yourself if you walk a few miles in them. How did Carrie on Sex and the City do it??

2. If it is cold you probably need gloves, red mittens are not sophisticated.

3. I cannot read on the bus, it makes me incredibly car sick. Hopefully, this will shift because currently I am completely bored.

4. I do need coffee if I wake up at 5:30am.

I hope you are all doing well, I will be better about posting... I swear...

If you don't use your car for driving to work, make sure you tell your insurance because then it is considered recreation only, and your premiums should be significantly cheaper.

Gloves are overrated. As for point #1, I guess if you're talking about at work that sucks, but if it's from the bus to work, I find it hard to imagine you can't find a set of more comfortable shoes to wear and then change when you get to work. Good luck on #3.

oohh! Good idea schdav! I will follow up on that - although my premiums are pretty cheap anyway (like 89 a month or something)

Jeremy - yes I did start wearing sneakers to walk from the bus to my work, but that was because I didn't on the first day and I seriously injured myself. I used to walk in heels all the time to my Minneapolis job so why can't I now? I probably need to work up to it...

I gave up on heels for anything except clubbing (I like the intimidation factor because, let's face it, I am one tall drink of water). I wear tennies to work, and I like it. Then again, I work in education, so i can get away with that sort of thing. Probably won't be able to for much longer if all goes according to plan at my day job. :)

Well there is a big differnce between sitting all day in heels and walking far in them. How long ago was your minneapolis job four five years ago. You do need to work up to these things especially since the heels are smaller these days. And Carrie took a cab everywhere.

10, if there's anyone out there who can make red mittens look classy, it's you. stay warm, b/c if you insist on wearing heels, at least the rest of you can be comfy.

Yes I wore heels all the time in Minneapolis, but I think they were more like pumps than the heels I wear today which are almost always 3-4 inches.

Thank you all for your congratulations - I am definetly like the new job!
